Guyana Islamic Trust held their National Islamic Convention on Nov. 23rd - 25th, 2012 at Guyana International Convention Center Liliendaal- Guyana, South America. Many International speakers and Islamic Scholars were invited to the convention such as- Shaikh Abdullah Hakim Quick, Shaikh Abdool Rahman, Shaikh Yusuf Badat, Shaikh Daud A. Haqq, Bro. Naseeb Khan, Bro. Raa’id Khan, Shaikh Dawud and Shaikh Shafayat. Prominent nationals of Guyana including Hon. Prime Minister Mr. Samuel Hinds were also in attendance. There were over 1500 at it’s formal opening. The convention was a great success with the help of many local scholars and GIT members under the leadership of the Murshid - Imam Haseeb Yusuf

Shaikh Shafayat went to Guyana in June to visit the Islamic
Institutions and facilities for students from Jamaica and Haiti, for whom
Al-Hikmat is coordinating sponsorship for, Inshaa Allaah. Shaikh Shafayat met
with Shaikh Azam- principal of Guyana Islamic Institute; Maulana Badrudeen
Khan- principal for Boys and Girls Islamic Institution Center of Higher Islamic
& Secular Education; Mufti Ramzan Khan- principal of Hajjatul Ulama Darul
Uloom; Maulana Arfeen- principal of Darul Uloom Diamond Georgetown; Imam
Mohamed Haseeb Yusuf- Murshid of Guyana Islamic Trust and Bro. Shaheed-
principal of ISA Islamic School.
