Guyana Islamic Trust Convention
November 23rd - 25th, 2012
Guyana Islamic Trust held their National Islamic Convention on Nov. 23rd - 25th, 2012 at Guyana International Convention Center Liliendaal- Guyana, South America. Many International speakers and Islamic Scholars were invited to the convention such as- Shaikh Abdullah Hakim Quick, Shaikh Abdool Rahman, Shaikh Yusuf Badat, Shaikh Daud A. Haqq, Bro. Naseeb Khan, Bro. Raa’id Khan, Shaikh Dawud and Shaikh Shafayat. Prominent nationals of Guyana including Hon. Prime Minister Mr. Samuel Hinds were also in attendance. There were over 1500 at it’s formal opening. The convention was a great success with the help of many local scholars and GIT members under the leadership of the Murshid - Imam Haseeb Yusuf

Shaikh Shafayat went to Guyana in June to visit the Islamic Institutions and facilities for students from Jamaica and Haiti, for whom Al-Hikmat is coordinating sponsorship for, Inshaa Allaah. Shaikh Shafayat met with Shaikh Azam- principal of Guyana Islamic Institute; Maulana Badrudeen Khan- principal for Boys and Girls Islamic Institution Center of Higher Islamic & Secular Education; Mufti Ramzan Khan- principal of Hajjatul Ulama Darul Uloom; Maulana Arfeen- principal of Darul Uloom Diamond Georgetown; Imam Mohamed Haseeb Yusuf- Murshid of Guyana Islamic Trust and Bro. Shaheed- principal of ISA Islamic School.

On November 18th, 2011, Shaikh Shafayat delivered the Jummua Khutba at Central Masjid, Kingston Jamaica West Indies, which is also the headquarters for the Islamic Council of Jamaica and the largest Masjid/Islamic Center in Jamaica. Shaikh Shafayat was accompanied by Bro. Abdul Kareem to deliver a lecture to over 250-300 people of which 99% were Non-Muslims at the funeral of the late Stanford Golaub in Westmoreland, Jamaica on November 20th, 2011

Shaikh Shafayat delivering the Jummah Khutbah on Friday August 19th, 2011 at Masjid Al-Hikmat in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, West Indies. Bro. Waheed and Brother Wayne from South Florida accompanied the Shaikh to Jamaica on a three days Ramadhaan visit from Aug. 18th - Aug. 21st, 2011. The Shaikh led the Maghrib/Esha and Taraweeh Salaah plus gave a few speeches to the congregation of converts to Islam.

Masjid As-Salaam held an Islamic Convention on May 13th - 15th, 2011 in Kingston, Jamaica on “Islam & Terrorism.” The topics discussed were: Islam & Terrorism by Sheikh AR Green, Paradise Lies at the Feet of your Mother by Dr. Rashid Malik, My Journey to Islam by Bro. Hamza Patterson and Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) of Islam (Political life/Spiritual life) by Shaikh Shafayat. Bro. Wayne and Bro. Mike Shah from Florida accompanied Shaikh Shafayat to the Convention.
