Terrorist attacks to kill and hurt innocent people
have become a norm of the day in Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan. The
terrorist attempt by Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab on Christmas Day, to
blow up flight 253 heading to Detroit, has once more become a slap on
the face of Muslims worldwide. Hence the reason why, it is not good
enough for Muslim Organizations to simply condemn terrorist attacks.
Rather, greater efforts should be implemented to eradicate extremists
and radicals from responsibilities in Islamic Institutions and Centers.
The very same Muslim Organizations that condemn
terrorist attacks on one hand, are the same organizations that oppose
law enforcement and authorities who try to prevent terrorism. This has
become a practice in America, Britain and the rest of the world. Such
actions harbor terrorists and extremists to continue their Un-Islamic
activities to kill and hurt innocent people in the world.
It is sad to know that there are millions of Muslims
who are still ignorant, naive and in denial of the fact that radicals
and extremists are only using Islam to accomplish their terrorist
activities throughout the world.
Muslim organizations should stop crying and
suffering from an inferior complex. Muslims should stop wasting time
and money on retaliating to Islamophobia. We should concentrate on
educating the world on true Islam and start denouncing publicly,
organizations/people like Al Qaeda and Bin laden. If we continue to say
we are moderate, and do nothing to stop terrorists and radicals - then
the backlash and hate against Muslims will not stop in America and
other countries.
During the last few years we have witnessed a
backlash against the Muslim community that is unfair, yet
understandable. On the other hand we see, atrocities that Muslim
extremists perform against the rest of the world and Muslim countries
like Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. I know the vast majority of Muslims in
this world are not radical extremists, nor do we support or agree with
violence or terrorism. But, the reality today, is a pattern of violence
perpetrated by a small group of Muslims, which reflects badly on the
rest of Muslims in the world.
In conclusion, I think it would change the Islamophobia and
misconception, if Muslim Organizations would raise their voices in
protest of all the violence. I am yet to see this outcry with dynamism
and force, as we see Muslims ready to demonstrate and riot over
political and petty issues.
