Al Hamdulillaah, we have
once more witnessed another sign of God
in Haiti’s earthquake. An opportunity to reflect and ponder. On one hand
thousands have lost their lives and thousands injured etc, while on the
other
hand thousand are coming together to collect millions of dollars to help
victims
of the earthquake. It is very commendable to see President Obama,
President
Clinton and President Bush of America, working together to help the
people of
Haiti. In 2004 we saw Former President George Bush, President Clinton
and
President Bush Senior doing the same to help victims of the Tsunami.
This is an
ideal example for the rest of the world to take pattern from. While
millions of
dollars have been spent by these Former Presidents in the campaign
trail, it is
really and truly a good sign to see politicians putting aside their
pride, power
and politics to help victims of disasters and calamities. It is
interesting
to see how an earthquake or hurricane could bring people together. In
the Holy
Scriptures, God Almighty used a famine to teach the brothers of Prophet
Joseph
(Peace Be Upon Him), how to unite and live together. In conclusion,
we
should always put aside politics, pride and power in our daily life,
especially
when it comes to lending a helping hand. Race, politics, color and
religion
should not hinder us from helping another human in our neighborhood or
anywhere
on earth. We should not wait for an earthquake or hurricane to unite
together.
